The Emergency Medical Service (EMS) dispatcher is responsible for sending out and keeping track of all ambulances in Monroe County and for forwarding city ambulance requests to the city ambulance contractor.
In addition, they are the administrative radio arm of EMS personnel, available to call back citizens to gather more information relating to a 911 call.
Currently the City of Rochester contracts with Rural Metro Medical Services for emergency medical services. If you live in the city and call 911 for an ambulance, Rural Metro will respond to your request unless you specifically request another service.
