• Education/Vocation
• Collaboration &
• Monitoring Success.

What is Pathways to Peace?

Statistics show that an increasing number of young people are resorting to violence as a means to obtain their goals. The City recognizes a critical need to provide them with nonviolent alternatives.

Pathways to Peace was initiated as part of a comprehensive effort to improve public safety. The PTP team reaches out into targeted neighborhoods to assess the needs of youth, network with all available resources and link at risk youth to appropriate services.

Pathways to Peace offers prevention, intervention and monitors youth who are receiving services that support their positive progress. The PTP’s primary goal is reducing youth related violence.

Why is Pathways to Peace needed?

To address the growing number of youths who are “at risk” of considering crime and/or violence as options because important needs in their lives are not being met.

In order to respond swiftly to the needs, concerns and crises that youth face.

To help young people gain both a sense of belonging and access to the resources around them that nurture positive growth.

To reduce youth violence by employing collaboration, resourcefulness, dedication and vigilance. Pathways to Peace will fill a pivotal role in helping individuals, families and others work together to prevent young lives from “falling through the cracks” of our social system.

What is Pathways to Peace coverage Area?

Pathways to Peace provides outreach to youth in all sectors of the City, utilizing whatever services and resources may be necessary to assist them in making life shaping decisions.

How can youth participate in this program?

Youths must be referred to Pathways to Peace in order to participate in the program. Referrals can be made by Law Enforcement, neighbors, family or friends, community agencies or even by the youth themselves. Referrals can be made online or at any intake location.

How does Pathways to Peace work?

Pathways to Peace collaborates with all available community resources, including schools, families, employers, health professionals, law enforcement agencies and other service providers.

By establishing these relationships and building a genuine rapport with at risk youth, the PIP team will be able to tailor a customized network of resources that match the needs identified for each young person.

In addition, presentations aimed at preventing violence from being considered as a current or future option are offered by Pathways to Peace for youth in all age groups, preteen to early 20’s, and interested community organizations.

What are the Pathways to Peace Service Hours?

All sections of the City are generally covered during the hours of 3 to 11 p.m. In addition, team members may schedule late evening or early morning visits at the convenience of youths and their families.

Pathways to Peace operates a seven Day/week outreach schedule.
