In an effort to create a stronger bond between the Fire Department and the community, the Fire Chief continues to sponsor an open house program at neighborhood fire stations. It is his hope that through this program the Fire Department will educate the community about fire safety, injury prevention and control, health and wellness and career exploration.

Each Open House, teams the Fire Department with local health organizations who provide glucose testing, blood pressure checks, nutritional information and anti-drug literature as well as other topical information relevant to the community. The Open Houses are sponsored by Tops Friendly Markets, who supply a variety of refreshments to all who attend. Hundreds of residents take advantage of the opportunity to meet their local firefighters at these events.
