News Release
(Friday, March 20, 2015) - Mayor Lovely Warren invites city youth ages 13 to 18 to register for a free, week-long Biz Kid$ Camp to be held during Spring Recess, Monday, March 30 through Friday, April 3.
Biz Kid$ Camp will be held at the Tay House Lodge at Cobb’s Hill Park, 85 Hillside Ave., near School #1. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
At Biz Kid$ Camp, youth gain the entrepreneurial know-how to bring their own business ideas to life through a fun and fast-paced program of interactive games and activities. Youth learn about time-management, how to look and act like a professional, sales forecasting, marketing, networking, public speaking and goal setting skills. Campers will also develop a real business plan.
At the end of the week, youth will present their business plans to a community review panel and have a chance to win money prizes. Biz Kid$ campers receive supplies to help them set up and run a business after camp ends such as backpacks, calculators, writing utensils, personal business cards and a business card holder.
Throughout the years, more than a thousand Biz Kid$ campers have developed businesses ranging from pet-sitting services, bicycle repair, landscaping, hand-made jewelry and much more.
