City of Rochester

News Release

(Thursday, June 21, 2018) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren issued the following statement today, on the last day of school for the Rochester City School District:

“Yet another school year is behind us, and I would like to congratulate each and every one of our students on another successful academic year, particularly those who are graduating and moving on to college, career or service to our country. I would also like to thank city families and teachers for standing behind them, cheering them on and helping them make the most of their academic careers.

“I believe in the youth of our city, and I am counting on them to continue to work hard and take advantage of the many opportunities available to them, because they are the future of our city.

“To our students, regardless of whether you are graduating from kindergarten or high school, I urge you to keep learning, both in and out of the classroom. The City of Rochester has many free programs available this summer at our libraries and R-Centers, providing reading and hands-on activities including creative arts, sports and technology.

“I also ask drivers to be extra careful now that more children may be playing outside or heading to and from our parks, libraries and R-centers. I wish everyone a safe and happy summer.”
