News Release
(Wednesday, July 18, 2018) – The City of Rochester has
released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for design services for a new urban
skatepark. Together with the Friends of Roc City Skatepark, the City is seeking
qualified consultants to provide design, bid and construction documents for an
organic, world-class urban skatepark to be built on South Avenue at Woodbury
Boulevard. The goal is to create a skatepark that will be free to the public
and accommodate skateboarding, BMX, rollerblading, scooters and other sports.
A pre-submittal meeting will be held at the Rochester Water
Bureau Training Room at 10 Felix St. on Thursday, Aug. 2 at 1 p.m., to allow
prospective firms the opportunity to review and discuss the project with the
City project manager prior to finalizing and submitting proposals.
The deadline for proposals is 5 p.m., Aug. 17. The
timetable, concept drawings and full list of proposal requirements are detailed

The selected consultant will utilize existing concept
designs to develop necessary documents including survey, geotechnical
evaluation and preliminary design recommendations. They will also be requiredto update cost estimates, final designs and construction phase design and
inspection services. The services will include providing and/or obtaining all
requisite testing, permits, reviews and environmental compliance.
The City requires that all bidders and subcontractors
present evidence of experience, ability and financial standing. Designated
firms must be able to submit proof of authority to practice
engineering/surveying in New York State immediately upon designation.
