News Release -- City Taking Applications for Membership on Nuisance Advisory Board

City of Rochester

News Release

(Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018) – The City of Rochester is seeking volunteers to serve on the new Nuisance Advisory Board (NAB), which will provide citizen guidance to the administration of the Nuisance Abatement Program.

Under the program, a business or property in the city may receive points for violations that constitute a public nuisance. Failure to correct nuisance activity after exceeding a point threshold may result in the closure of a business or property. This NAB will oversees a review procedure for property owners to appeal any points assigned to their properties.

City Council has approved many changes to the Nuisance Abatement Law, including the establishment of the NAB.

The nine-member board will include one business owner and one resident from each of the Northeast, Northwest, East, and South Districts and one resident from the Center City. They will meet monthly to review cases submitted by the NSC.
