RFP - Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center (RRCC) Escalator Replacement

Project No. 19007

The City of Rochester, through its Architectural Services department, is soliciting proposals from firms with team expertise in the specialty of vertical transportation generally and escalators specifically for engineering/architectural services to include concept development to evaluate replacement options for the ten escalators, progressing to schematic design, design development, contract documents and construction estimates, construction administration and commissioning for complete replacement.

Aging infrastructure and the significantly increasing cost of maintenance and safety upgrades, as well as unavailability of obsolescent parts, necessitates programming for full replacement of all ten escalators.

The consultant shall investigate new innovations and technologies available in the USA market for escalator systems. The report will review strength and weaknesses of escalators systems manufactured in the USA, look at space utilization, code compliance, energy conservation measures, ease of repairs, availability of parts, and maintenance history.

The consultant will work with City personnel from the RRCC and DES for the program data, research, decision matrix preparation, and all phases of design. All solution options shall be compliant with New York State building code, ASME and with local governing bodies.

Due to technological difficulties, the original website link to the RFP was lost. The RFP has been re-posted, and the due date for proposals has been extended two weeks.
