News Release

(Sunday, January 20, 2019) – Mayor Lovely Warren has issued the following statement commending the City’s crews amidst the 17 inches of snow that fell overnight.

“My thanks to the City Department of Environmental Services, 911, 311, police and fire employees that have worked throughout the storm to keep our community safe.

“We have completed two residential street and sidewalk plow runs, and our arterial and intersection plow teams are working continuously.

“Another city-wide residential and sidewalk run will take place later today. In the interim, I encourage residents to call 311 with any issues in their neighborhoods and to use PlowTrax to keep up to date on our snow-removal efforts.

“Our DES teams are reviewing 311 call data and responding to any problem areas.

“My thanks as well to our residents for using caution and common sense regarding traveling this weekend. Also, I'm grateful for everyone for checking on their neighbors, clearing sidewalks and obeying our parking rules. Together, we have weathered this storm well.

“I will continue to monitor the storm and our clean-up efforts with our department heads to ensure the safety of our community."

In addition, all City R-Center activities are cancelled today and the ice rinks at Martin Luther King Jr. Park and Genesee Valley Park are closed for the day. 311 hours are extended until 6 p.m. Residents are reminded to only call 911 if they are in need of police, fire or ambulance services, and 311 for all other calls.
