(Feb. 11, 2009) - The Boards of Trustees of the Monroe County Library System and Rochester Public Library System are pleased to announce the appointment of Patricia Uttaro to the position of Library Director. She is the seventh Director in the 55-year history of the county-wide system.
A native of Rochester, Director Uttaro began her library career as a page at the Gates Public Library in 1977. Since then she has worked in various positions in the Monroe County Library System. Director Uttaro served as the director of the Ogden Farmers’ Library in Spencerport from 1999-2007, and most recently as the personnel and communications director for the Rochester Public Library and as the assistant director for the Monroe County Library System.
She is a graduate of Nazareth Academy, attended St. Lawrence University and earned a bachelor’s of arts from Empire State College and a master’s in Library Science from the University at Buffalo in 1997. She lives in Chili with her husband, Cosmo, and their two children, Scott and Elizabeth.
