Project Description: High accident rates and congestion led to the design and construction of the first roundabout on a public road in Monroe County.  The roundabout slows traffic and increases safety for both pedestrians and motorists. Simple signage at the site eliminated the need for a traffic signal. According to the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, modern roundabouts reduce the number of fatal accidents occurring at intersections by 90%.

The roundabout eases traffic and reduces accidents in the area
