Information about burial and memorial options at Riverside Cemetery
History
Located on the banks of the Genesee River in the northwest area of the city, Riverside Cemetery has been a fixture in Rochester's landscape since it was established in 1892. Portions of the cemetery were designed by noted landscape architect Alling DeForest, who also designed the grounds of the George Eastman House and the original plans for the University of Rochester River Campus. In 1942, the city accepted ownership of Riverside at the association's request. A few years later a large section of the cemetery was dedicated to our area's war dead.
The 123-acre cemetery features early funeral art, rare horticultural specimens, trails, ponds, benches and breathtaking geological formations. Unique local legends and heroes are laid to rest here. That tradition continues as area residents take advantage of our competitive pricing options. Choosing Riverside has become synonymous with true family values.
Future
The third phase of the mausoleum complex is in the design development phase. Cemetery staff eagerly await the official groundbreaking for the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum . Pre-construction discounts are still available. This third building will include a chapel to offer families a convenient location for funeral services or quiet reflection.
