Rochester is a city of neighborhoods, or urban villages, where residents and merchants serve one another. Outside of downtown, the cityscape is dotted with dozens of pedestrian-friendly commercial areas with stores, restaurants, offices and other services, which are supported by the residential neighborhoods that surround them. These attract and motivate people to live together.
Our community development process encourages residents and merchants to work together to develop long-range visions for their neighborhoods to create blueprints for change in those neighborhoods.
