Growing engineering firm locates in the city’s historic Corn Hill District

(Monday, May 11, 2009 ) - Mayor Robert J. Duffy and the City’s Commissioner of Economic Development, R. Carlos Carballada welcomed Pathfinder Engineers LLP to downtown Rochester today. Rochester’s newest engineering, architectural and energy services firm relocated from Pittsford and celebrated their new office building with a ribbon cutting that was attended by Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks and representatives from NYSERDA and the U.S. Green Building Council.

“The Corn Hill district is a gem that we are very proud of,” said Mayor Duffy. “This is a very attractive site for development and Pathfinder Engineering will help to keep downtown on a fast track to growth. This is a win-win situation for everyone.”

“Pathfinder Engineers is pleased to be located in the city and our employees are enjoying this wonderful new facility and the Corn Hill neighborhood,” says David J. Meyer, PE, LEED® AP, a partner of the firm and part-owner of the building. “This is an exciting move for our company.”

The woman-owned enterprise provides sustainable design in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural and energy engineering as well as facilities architecture. The firm acquired the 9,200 sq. ft. building at 134 S. Fitzhugh St. in the Corn Hill district in 2008 and completed HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fire protections systems renovations in February, 2009. Features of the renovations include high efficiency lighting, heating and cooling; heat recovery from ventilation; improved ventilation; ultra-low flow plumbing fixtures; instantaneous water heaters; improved day lighting; ADA compliance and more.

The building’s design will allow client-visitors to view many of the available building systems and better understand how these systems could be implemented in their own facilities. The building renovation project is registered with the USGBC and is targeted to achieve LEED® Gold Certification for sustainability.

The building is also owned by Nancy Jendryaszek, AIA, LEED® AP, Lynn G. Bellenger, PE, LEED® AP, David L. Klock, PE, LEED® AP and associate Alex Strasenburgh, PE, LEED® AP. Pathfinder partnered with REDCO/SBA, COMIDA, NYSERDA and M&T Bank on the project.
