Save Money, Energy and the Planet
In recognition of Rochester’s commitment to sustainability, the City kicked off its partnership with Cool Rochester, a non-profit environmental organization, on September 15th at City Hall. Working together, Cool Rochester, the City of Rochester, and other local organizations plan to reduce Rochester’s carbon dioxide emissions by 1 billion pounds over 3 years. As a partner, Mayor Robert J. Duffy and the City are calling upon Rochester employees, residents, and organizations to sign up with Cool Rochester to track and reduce their individual carbon footprint. Cool Rochester will then tally up individual carbon reductions, so that the community can see how their cumulative savings add up to a significant amount across Rochester.
Cool Rochester provides all participants with tips and resources for simple ways to conserve energy while saving money. By utilizing these resources and working together, Rochester can significantly reduce its carbon footprint to become a more sustainable and environmentally friendly place to live.
