News Release - Statement by Mayor Robert J. Duffy Regarding Chief Moore's Bid for Dallas Job

City of Rochester

News Release

(Wednesday, March 3, 2010) - Police Chief David Moore has advised me that he is no longer a candidate for the position of Chief of the Dallas, Tex. Police Department. Chief Moore withdrew his candidacy for that job on the same day he withdrew his name from the pool of candidates for the Police Chief’s job in Albany, N.Y.

As I have said before, Chief Moore has told me he would like to remain as Rochester’s Police Chief for the foreseeable future and he has my full support. I would never stand in the way of a career move or a better offer for any of my appointments.

With the lowest rate of serious crime in 25 years in our city, it is not a surprise to me that the Chief would be presented with other opportunities. I am pleased that Chief Moore is staying on with the City and he has my full support in our shared goal of driving down crime and homicide rates even lower in 2010.
