Summer of Opportunity Program 2014 Application Instructions

SOOP-logo-colorThank you for your interest in the Summer of Opportunity Program. Please read all of the instructions on this page before beginning the online Summer of Opportunity youth employment application. Students will be able to complete and submit the required on-line application until March 21, 2014.

  • In April, eligible students ages 16 and over will attend prescreening interviews.
  • Students ages 14 and 15 will receive job readiness training if hired.
  • All students will be required to bring in necessary documents to one single location:

Note: PARENTS/ADULTS MAY NOT COMPLETE APPLICATIONS FOR YOUTH. 

All applications must be completed online. By using the "Begin my online SOOP Application" link provided below, students will be able to create a LOGIN ID AND PASSWORD, access and complete their application. This first login REQUIRES a valid email address where communications to the student will be sent.  APPLICANTS MAY NOT SHARE AND/OR USE THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS. If the student does not have an email address, one can be easily created on publicly available websites such as Google, Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail or others prior to beginning the application. Students must also provide their social security number when starting the application.

If students need to complete this application or provide additional information at a later time, they will use the link “Return to complete my SOOP Application” below using the Login ID and password they created the first time.

On this website, you will find help and training material that will assist you while completing your application.

When the application is complete, students are requested to click on the “Submit” button and then PRINT the 2-page document that will:

  • Provide next steps
  • Require additional signatures from the student, parent, and school administrator/counselor
