News Release - Finance Department Recognized for Excellence In Reporting

(Tuesday, May 18, 2010) – The Government Finance Officers Association has awarded the Rochester Department of Finance with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, the Association’s highest honor.

The certificate recognizes the excellence of the City of Rochester’s 2009 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), which achieved the highest standards in government accounting and financial reporting. Those standards include the demonstration of a “spirit of disclosure” to clearly communicate the City’s financial story.

“Congratulations are in order for City Finance Director Brian Roulin and his outstanding team in the City Finance Department,” said Mayor Robert J. Duffy. “We in City government take great pride in our careful stewardship of the taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars, so it is gratifying to see an outside agency recognize the excellent work of the Finance Department.”

Finance Director Brian Roulin said: “Credit for this award belongs to men and women of the Department of Finance. I am blessed to work with such an excellent group of professional men and women who bring diligence and careful attention to detail to everything they do. I want to thank the Government Finance Officers Association for recognizing their work with this prestigious honor.”
