City Welcomes Steel River BBQ Bar & Grill to Charlotte
(Tuesday, July 24, 2012) – City Neighborhood and Business Development Commissioner R. Carlos Carballada and City Councilmember Carla Palumbo joined owners Jose Aponte, Michelle Cipolla-Aponte and Tina Cipolla-Youst for a ribbon cutting celebrating the grand opening of Steel River BBQ Bar & Grill at 421 River St. in the City of Rochester’s Charlotte Area.
Jose Aponte has had previous restaurant and entertainment industry experience, but always had a dream to open his own place. What better way than to open a restaurant with family, so his wife Michelle and her sister Tina partnered in the Steel River BBQ Bar & Grill. They chose the River Street site as it is near the water and in Charlotte, an area that they all love. In addition, the 2,400 square foot space has its own parking lot and a back deck area to accommodate additional seating, which they plan to open in the near future.
“This is a wonderful family venture which will be a drawing card to Lake Ontario and Charlotte,” said Commissioner Carballada, “We love to see such dedicated business owners in the Rochester area.”
Steel River BBQ Bar & Grill is not your average BBQ restaurant as they also offer barbeque with an Hispanic flair: Cuban Roast Pork Platter, Pulled Pork Empanada and other tantalizing fare such as the Chef’s signature, Chicken French and Artichoke French.
The family invested close to $40,000 in the opening of Steel River BBQ and created six jobs with plans to add another six over the next three years.
Steel River BBQ Bar & Grill is open Sunday through Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to
11 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m.
