City Celebrates Radisson Renovations

(Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012) — Neighborhood and Business Development Commissioner R. Carlos Carballada joined Radisson Hotel Rochester Riverside’s General Manager Michael Marsch today for the official ribbon-cutting celebration of the Radisson’s newly renovated spaces at their downtown Rochester 120 E. Main St. location.

Originally opened in 1969, over $3.5 million has been invested over the last three years in renovating and upgrading the guest rooms, fitness center and all of the meeting spaces. With 460 guest rooms and over 30,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, the Radisson is one of the largest hotels in New York State outside of Manhattan.

“The travel and tourism industry is a major economic engine to this region and we know that the continued reinvestment by Radisson reflects their optimism for the hospitality industry and for Rochester’s exciting future,” said Commissioner Carballada.

“The goal for this downtown property is to reposition the Radisson brand within the market place. Radisson is here to stay. Our mission is to be the preferred hotel in downtown Rochester for business travelers, conventioneers, sports team events and weddings. Our investment in enhancing this hotel is a testament to this goal,” says Marsch.

The service team continues to focus on exceeding the expectations of all guests. Some of the accomplishments that the Radisson Hotel Rochester Riverside has achieved over the past several years include receiving the Trip Advisor’s Award of Excellence —rated the #1 full service hotel in downtown Rochester. The hotel has also scored in the top 10 percent of the Radisson Brand within North America over the past two years. They have received the “Bride’s Choice Award” for two years from, an online wedding resource, as they build their reputation as a premier wedding venue. In addition, their front desk manager Dan Taylor was also named employee of the year in 2011 by Carlson Hotels.
