News Release - Gantt Center Programming Relocated During Renovations

(Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012) - Programs at the David F. Gantt Community Center, 700 North St., have been relocated effective Tuesday, Oct. 9, to allow for renovations at the site. The $2.8 million project will add a fitness center, music room, state of the art kitchen and completely renovated program spaces.

The project is scheduled to be completed in May 2013, just in time for the busy summer season.

During construction, residents can participate in programs offered at two nearby sites, the Marketview Lodge, 136 First St., and the Dr. Freddie Thomas Learning Center, 625 Scio St. The Marketview site will offer a variety of programs for youth ages 6-13 from 2 until 6:30 p.m., Mon. to Fri.

At the Freddie Thomas site, a variety of athletic, arts and social programs for youth ages 14-18, will take place from 6 to 9 p.m., Mon. through Fri.
