(Thursday, April 11, 2013) — Mayor Thomas S. Richards today announced numerous opportunities for public participation as part of the City’s commemoration of the 175th anniversary of Mount Hope Cemetery.

Dedicated in 1838, Mt. Hope Cemetery is first municipal Victorian cemetery in the United States. The cemetery features 196 acres of extraordinary greenery and forests filled with a diverse variety of trees.

•Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Clean Sweep

•Thursday, May 9 at 12:30 p.m. – Day of Caring: Both Mount Hope and Riverside Cemetery, 2650 Lake Ave., are volunteer sites for the annual Day of Caring.

•June through October 9 a.m. to Noon – Second Saturdays: Join with other volunteers on the second Saturday of each month during this time to help maintain the grounds.
