City to Offer Summer Youth Camps for Arts and Athletics

(Tuesday, April 30, 2013) – Mayor Thomas S. Richards announced today that the City will offer two popular youth camps this summer: the Genesee Valley Park Youth Sports Camp and the ArtSmart Camp. Both camps are for youth for ages 6 to13 and will run weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., July 1 through Aug. 23.

“These exciting summer camps are a great value for parents, guardians and children,” said Mayor Richards. “Whether taking part in athletics or the arts, City Recreation offers an excellent menu of fun and affordable activities this summer.”

The Genesee Valley Park Youth Sports Camp offers an array of activities that are sure to excite any young sports enthusiast. Organized sports offered at the camp include: soccer, basketball, football, baseball/softball, wrestling, tennis, golf, triathlon, swimming, floor hockey and even hiking around beautiful Genesee Valley Park. If the creative arts are desired, the ArtSmart camp offers many arts and cultural activities, including drawing, painting, theater, dance, textile arts and more. This immersive program is held at Lake Riley Lodge on Norris Drive in Cobbs Hill Park. For more information, or to download a registration packet, visit www.cityofrochester.gov/artsmart.

The fee for either camp is $85 per week for city residents and $130 per week for non-city residents. Siblings can attend for $65 and $110, respectively. Breakfast and lunch are included.

A non-refundable deposit equaling one week’s tuition is due upon registration. The deposit will be credited towards the first week of camp. Youth can participate for one week or multiple weeks as space allows.
