City of Rochester

News Release

(Friday, May 31, 2013) — City Neighborhood and Business Development Commissioner R. Carlos Carballada along with City Council President Lovely Warren and Council Vice President Dana Miller joined business owners Sylvia and Roy Williams today for the ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the Yolishous Self-Serve Frozen Yogurt Bar, 647 Park Ave.

Yolishous offers 18 flavors of yogurt and over 30 different toppings for patrons to create their own custom dessert. The owners provide a wide variety of other toppings to include fresh seasonal fruits, sugar-free syrups, cereal, candy, nuts and full-calorie toppings. They also offer a dairy-free sorbet.

Chances are there will always be a family member on site, since daughters Talia and Veronica stand in as managers. The Williams opened Yolishous on Park Avenue because they say, “It is one of the most exciting areas in Rochester.”

“Yolishous is an exemplary family-owned enterprise,” said Commissioner Carballada. “They also represent the best of what it means to give back to the community in which you do business.”

Already, about 15 youth who participate in the City’s Biz Kid$ Youth Entrepreneur Program spent an afternoon learning about the food service industry. Youth studied the Yolishous business plan, dialogued with the owners about how to start a business and had an opportunity to taste the product first-hand. Yolishous again engaged the neighborhood by hiring a local artisan to hand paint the mural in the front of their establishment. Currently, Yolishous employs a staff of 12.

Hours of operation are: Mon. through Thurs., 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Fri. through Sat, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sun., 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
