News Release

(Thursday, June 13, 2013) – Mayor Thomas S. Richards is pleased to announce the 30th anniversary of local catering icon Lorraine’s Food Factory. Owner Lorraine Serpe held a celebration today that was attended by City Neighborhood and Business Development Commissioner R. Carlos Carballada and City Councilmember Elaine Spaull and a host of Ms. Serpe’s family, friends and clients. Lorraine’s has been in business in the city since 1982, focusing primarily on catering, lunch deliveries, and now, gourmet frozen meals.

Serpe started her business three decades ago as Lorraine’s Lunch Basket. Now known as Lorraine’s Food Factory, the company is legendary locally for its sandwiches, salads and homemade brownies. On most days, Serpe can be found in the kitchen at Lorraine’s Food Factory, 777 Culver Rd. Her mother, Delores Serpe has been her office manager for all 30 years of being in business. Serpe also celebrated the grand opening of a new, outdoor patio dining area that has seating for more than 30 people.

Lorraine’s offers catering service for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Claiming to be the first firm in town to provide corporate lunch deliveries, Serpe said Lorraine’s has won several Caterer of the Year awards, specializes in “feeding corporate America” and is also an “entertainment caterer.” Lorraine’s now offers healthy frozen meals and hot pasta to go. “Lorraine’s is the first to offer full-balanced, gourmet, frozen take-out meals designed specifically for those with diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol or high blood pressure, or for those who want a heart-healthy meal” said Serpe.

Lorraine’s is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call 442-6574 or visit www.lorrainesfoodfactory.com.
