(Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013) – Mayor Thomas S. Richards announced today that John Hiatt and his band The Combo with special guests Matthew Perryman Jones and Watkins and the Rapiers will be wrapping up the Windstream Party in the Park series Thursday at the Riverside Festival Site on the corner of Court and Exchange streets. This year, the popular outdoor concert series has brought more than 20 national and international music acts to Downtown Rochester.
“Windstream Party in the Park has grown into one of the most prominent features on the extensive list of ‘must do’ events of a Rochester summer,” said Mayor Richards. “I want to thank promoters Gerard Fisher and Dan Smalls for putting together a great program of music and activities for the 2013 season, and I want to thank all of our sponsors for reinforcing Rochester’s standing as the entertainment capital of our region. I am particularly grateful to Windstream for once again demonstrating its commitment to Downtown Rochester by taking on the role of presenting sponsor.”
John Hiatt is an American rock guitarist, pianist, singer, and songwriter who has played a variety of musical styles including new wave, blues and country since 1972. John Hiatt with his band The Combo has a reputation for captivating crowds at their live shows.
Matthew Perryman Jones began playing in 1997 and has been featured in many television shows including Grey's Anatomy, Bones, Pretty Little Liars as well as the 2012 movie release What To Expect When You Are Expecting.
Watkins & the Rapiers began playing their original Americana and folk music right here in Rochester in January of 1996.
New to Windstream Party in the Park this year is a premium seating section, an art-gallery tent, local food trucks and local beverage options.
General admission to Windstream Party in the Park is $2 and free for children under 12. Admission for the expanded seating area is an additional $3 for all ages.
Tickets may be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com with an associated service fee, or at the Blue Cross Arena with no service fee. Tickets are also available at the gate.
Parking is available on-street and at nearby parking garages, including the Court Street Garage, 194 Court St. and the Sister Cities Garage, 28 S. Fitzhugh St.
