(Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013) – Mayor Thomas S. Richards announced today that registration is now open for those looking to enroll their children in the After School in the Park program. Program organizers will be hosting an After School in the Park open house on Monday, Aug. 19, at 5 p.m. at the Danforth Community Center, 200 West Ave. Interested parents and guardians can get acquainted with the Danforth site, meet the staff and learn about program activities and logistics such as transportation.
The After School in the Park program, conveniently located at Cobbs Hill Park, 100 Norris Dr., and the Danforth Community Center, 200 West Ave. provides an array of after-school activities for youth ages 6 through 13. The program will run from Sept. 4, 2013 to June 26, 2014 on weekdays from 2 to 6:30 p.m. The fee of attendance for city residents is $55 per week; $45 for each additional sibling. For non-city residents the fee is $65 per week; $55 for each additional sibling. Parents who enroll their children at the Danforth Community Center location during the month of August will receive four weeks for the price of three.

The After School in the Park program includes:
• School bus drop-off (Drop-off only. Must be arranged through child’s school);
• After school hours;
• Fitness and arts activities;
• Healthy snacks and hot dinners;
• Homework help;
• Field trips;
• Well-trained and friendly staff;
• Convenient east and west side locations;
• Winter/Spring break availability- 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at $125 per week.
