City of Rochester
News Release
(Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013) – City Neighborhood and Business Development Commissioner R. Carlos Carballada, N.Y. State Senator Joseph E. Robach, City Councilmembers Elaine Spaull and Jacklyn Ortiz joined owners Matt Cole and Trey Yager today to celebrate the grand opening of Havana Cabana, a Caribbean themed restaurant, located at 289 Alexander St. in the heart of Rochester’s East End District.
Havana Cabana, serving fresh Cuban/Caribbean inspired entrées, brings a distinctive new flavor to neighboring eclectic restaurants and cafés in the area. Its rum bar features custom cocktails and more than forty premium rums. Live Caribbean and Calypso music is played on Friday and Saturday nights with plenty of room for dancing in the 3,500 square-foot space. Owners, Matt and Trey—who is also the executive chef—call the Havana Cabana an “escape to a relaxing island,” and encourage patrons to come early and stay late.
Havana Cabana currently employs 24 and people and hopes to increase this number within the next year.
Hours of operation are: Wednesdays and Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. to midnight, Fridays and Saturdays 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Havana Cabana is also open Sunday mornings for a Caribbean brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
