“Skate to Commemorate” is an open skating event to celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King
Jr.
Members of the local professional hockey team, the Rochester Americans, will kick off the event with a team skate from 11 a.m. to
noon that the public is welcome to watch. At noon, the rink opens for
public skating and the Amerks will remain on the ice to skate with fans
and sign autographs from noon to 1 p.m.
Open skating sessions for the day will take place at noon, 1:50 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. Skate rentals are $3, and the admission
fee of $2 can be substituted with a donation of two, non-perishable new hygiene,
cleaning or household items. Please arrive 20 minutes early to make sure you
get your skates.
The Youth Voice, One Vision youth council will offer
hot chocolate for sale to benefit the Center for Youth and its at risk youth
outreach programs. |
