News Release - Mayor Lovely A. Warren Helps Break Ground for Expansion of Dixon Funeral Home in Northeast Rochester

(Saturday, February 1, 2014) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren and Councilmember Michael Patterson joined Geraldine L. Dixon and the Rev. Roosevelt Dixon for a ground-breaking ceremony today to celebrate the pending construction of an expansion to the G.L. Dixon Funeral Home, 1080 North St.

“Dixon Funeral Home has been an institution in Northeast Rochester for many years, and I am honored to help mark this special occasion,” said Mayor Warren. “I am proud to call the Dixons my neighbors and friends and wish them the best of luck with this expansion.”

“G.L. Dixon Funeral Home is looking forward to many more years of professional funeral Service to the community with expansion possibilities in the future,” said Geraldine Dixon.

The G.L. Dixon Funeral Home was established in 1989 and is a family-owned, full-service funeral home, noted for its compassionate and affordable services. Geraldine Dixon is widely regarded in the Rochester area for her extraordinary restorative services and personalized level of service. The funeral home will undertake an expansion of the embalming area, interior upgrades, and the construction of a new parking lot.

Funding for the $300,000 project is being provided by the City Department of Neighborhood and Business Development, and includes low-interest financing and a grant.

The funeral home is open 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
