(Thursday, June 5, 2014) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren announced today that the City's partners on Monroe Avenue will host the 2nd Annual “Show on Monroe,” an open-house event to celebrate the eclectic nature of Monroe Avenue, from 12 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 7.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase Monroe Avenue as a destination for the perfect blend of great food, unique shopping, creative entertainment and urban living,” said Mayor Warren. “We are fortunate to have such great partners along Monroe Avenue working together to promote this tremendous area of our city.”

From Culver Road to the Inner loop, Monroe Avenue merchants will open their doors for an afternoon of entertainment, dining and shopping. Events will include a scavenger hunt, street performances, live music and more. This year the Show on Monroe will be happening in conjunction with the Genesee Center for the Arts fundraiser, Spokes and Ink. Participating businesses will also offer sales and promotions along the Avenue. No streets will be closed.

The Show on Monroe is a joint effort between the City Department of Neighborhood and Business Development and partners such as the Monroe Avenue Merchants Association, the Monroe Branch of the Rochester Public Library, the Good Business Association of Rochester and the YMCA of Greater Rochester.
