News Release - Neighborhood Garden Tour Series Begins Saturday

City of Rochester

News Release

(Thursday, July 10, 2014) – Mayor Lovely Warren invites the community to discover Rochester’s many neighborhood garden spaces during a free tour series that kicks off this Saturday, July 12 across the city’s southeast quadrant. The tours provide an opportunity for neighbors and gardeners to explore the wide variety of community-driven gardens in the area.

“As the Flower City, Rochester is never more beautiful than it is when our neighborhood gardens are in bloom,” said Mayor Lovely Warren. “We are fortunate to have communities and gardeners willing to invest their time in these greenspaces and I hope that everyone will enjoy them through the garden tour series.”

The tours are open format, allowing participants to visit the gardens at their own pace and itinerary from noon to 5 p.m. Volunteers from each garden will be on site to greet visitors, give tours and answer questions.

Gardens featured this weekend include:

• Calvary St. Andrew's Presbyterian Parish Garden, 68 Ashland St.
• Garden of E.D.E.N. (Every Day Eating Naturally), 1245 Culver Rd.
• Honor Park Gardens, Corner of Linden and South Goodman Streets
• Neighbors Gardening Together, Corners of Denver Street and Parsells Avenue; Garson Street and Chamberlain Street
• South Wedge Victory Garden, 122 Hamilton St. and 162 Cypress St.
