City Celebrates Grand Opening of Molly’s Yoga Corner

(Wednesday, September 17, 2014) – City Neighborhood and Business Development Deputy Commissioner Kathleen ‘Kate’ Washington, City Councilmember Elaine Spaull and New York State Senators Ted O’Brien and Joseph Robach joined owner Molly Huff today for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Molly’s Yoga Corner located at 713 Monroe Avenue.

“Molly’s Yoga Corner is a perfect fit for trendy Monroe Avenue,” said Deputy Commissioner Washington. “On behalf of Mayor Lovely Warren, we welcome Ms. Huff to the neighborhood and we are confident that the unique services she offers will complement this area wonderfully.”

Molly opened her first yoga studio in Fairport in June 2000 but has a special connection to the Monroe Avenue location. “I have come full circle”, said Huff. “I took my first yoga class and taught my first yoga class at this location before opening my own studio. Now fifteen years later, I’m back at the place where my yoga journey began.”

Molly’s Yoga Corner is located in the original Monroe Avenue firehouse that was built in the late 1800s. The studio occupies 800 square feet on the second floor and the original fire pole is still in place.

Molly’s Yoga Corner offers a variety of hatha-style yoga, which is the traditional practice of yoga focusing on physical poses and breathing exercises. Ms. Huff’s Monroe Avenue and Fairport studios each have certified instructors who teach various methods of movement and relaxation. “Hatha-style yoga helps students reduce stress while recapturing a sense of peacefulness and serenity — of oneness in mind, spirit and purpose,” said Huff.
