City Hosts Ribbon-Cutting in Neighborhood of the Arts to Celebrate New Location of the Gallery Salon

-Salon Re-opens with New Vintage Industrial Look and Local Art-

(Thursday, October 9, 2014) – City Neighborhood and Business Development Deputy Commissioner Kathleen Washington joined owner Erika Schramm to celebrate the grand opening of the Gallery Salon with a ribbon cutting at its new, larger location at 4 Elton Street.

Located in the Neighborhood of the Arts since 2005, Gallery Salon recently relocated to a larger space on Elton Street. Just like in her previous location on niversity Avenue, the new Gallery Salon will host artwork by local Rochester artists.

“The Gallery Salon is a perfect fit for our Neighborhood of the Arts”, said Deputy Commissioner Washington. “On behalf of Mayor Warren, we wish Mrs. Schramm continued success and we are confident that the unique services she offers will complement this area wonderfully.”

"I wanted a larger space to keep up with the growth of the salon and create more jobs in the process,” said Schramm. “I feel that small businesses are a part of the revitalization of Rochester and I wanted the salon to reflect that sense of growth and purpose.”

The salon features stunning high ceilings and a look that melds an industrial-style with vintage décor. The result is an aura of respite and warmth, the perfect place for everyone from families to executives to pamper themselves. Schramm will showcase her extensive collection of vintage items such as hair dryers and chandeliers and feature them on a backdrop of walls, shelves and floors built from repurposed pallet racks and pipes. Construction at the new location was completed by another Rochester small business – Guildwork Painting General Contractors – owned and operated by Schramm’s husband Paul.

The Gallery Salon is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The opening of the new location will create and retain 4 new jobs within the community.
