Link Gallery Photo Exhibit Features Work of John Retallack

(Thursday, October 30, 2014) – The Veterans, Whispers & Profiles exhibit by John Retallack is now on display in the Link Gallery at City Hall until December 8, 2014. An opening reception for the exhibit will be held on Tuesday, December 2 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The exhibit showcases a selection of Retallack’s artwork including:

• Photographs of war veterans and their family members taken at Monroe Community Hospital and Bethel Christian Community Church. The photographs were made into a calendar and sold to support veterans programs at the church.

• The Whisper Series are candid photographs of different groups of people interacting with one another. These interactions were originally done on film and then converted into digital prints for the exhibit.

• The portraits on display illustrate their subjects in a sitting or still fashion. “Photography of people is about meeting people, learning their uniqueness and becoming familiar with them,” said Retallack.” The most accurate interpretation of the sitter is the end result that I look for.”

• A combination of landscapes and still life photographs.

The Link Gallery at City Hall is located at 30 Church St. and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
