City of Rochester

News Release

(Monday, December 15, 2014) – The RochesterWorks! Youth Summer Employment Program and the City of Rochester’s Operation Transformation Rochester Summer of Opportunity Program (SOOP) are seeking community partners to deliver structured, project-based, paid work experiences for youth during summer 2015.

This Request for Application seeks to identify local for-profit, not-for-profit and faith-based organizations possessing an individual or team that has the skill, experience, work space, computer facilities and payroll ability to provide a summer work experience.

This program places more than 600 youth ages 14 to 20 in paid, structured work experiences each summer. State and local funding is expected to provide selected work host sites with funds to compensate their participants.

Information and applications are accessible at www.cityofrochester.gov/soop. Proposals are due no later than noon Wednesday, January 21, 2015; emailed to Antwan Williams, Director of Youth Systems Services, at awilliams@rochesterworks.org. Applications will be evaluated based on creativity, specificity of experience, demonstrated expertise in project themes, level of youth engagement, measurable outcomes, contributing partnerships, fiscal capacity and overall cost efficiency. Selected sites will be notified in May.
