City Announces Additional Streets for Parking Emergency Restriction

(Saturday, February 21, 2015) – Snow clearing operations related to the City’s Emergency Parking restriction will continue this weekend on additional streets. Parking is prohibited on the following streets beginning at noon on Sunday, February 22 until noon on Monday, February 23:

• Richards Street
• Rising Place
• Wilcox Street
• Sumner Park
• Pearl Street (S. Goodman Street to Boardman Street)
• Hazelwood Terrace (Culver Road to Merchants Road)
• Queens Street
• Conklin Avenue
• Rutgers Street (Monroe Avenue to Harvard Street)
• Woodlawn Street

Vehicles parked on these streets during this time period may be towed. The City will attempt to relocate towed vehicles to nearby streets. However, if relocation is not possible, vehicles will be towed to the City’s Auto Impound Lot on Colfax Street and towing and storage fees will be imposed.

Additional Parking Emergencies on other streets will be announced later. The areas chosen for snow removal are prioritized based on the degree of difficulty they present to snow removal operations.

Free overnight parking for affected vehicles will be available at Washington Square, East End and Mortimer Street Garages. Residents may also seek parking on surrounding streets outside of the Parking Emergency Area.

Residents of the impacted streets will be notified via telephone using “reverse 9-1-1 technology.”

Private snow plow contractors are reminded that it is a violation of City Code to place snow in the public right of way and it should instead be stored on site.

Residents are asked to cooperate with the City in its snow removal efforts by clearing fire hydrants and sidewalks.

Motorists not in the affected streets should continue to observe normal parking restrictions and regulations.
