News Release - City to Hold Open House in Support of the East Main Arts and Market Initiative

City of Rochester

News Release

(Friday, March 6, 2015) – The City will host an evening open-house meeting next week to discuss the East Main Arts and Market Initiative. This will be the first of two public meetings related to an ongoing study of the area immediately east of Downtown, which includes the Neighborhood of the Arts and the Rochester Public Market.

The study will identify multi-modal transportation circulation opportunities, access and parking improvements along with recommendations for land use development, streetscape enhancements, community branding and strategies to promote improved housing.

The purpose of this open house is to discuss current conditions in the neighborhood, with a focus on the East Main Street corridor and gain input from residents, businesses, and other community stakeholders regarding their vision for the community. Feedback received at the meeting will be used to develop concepts and recommendations that will be presented to the public in summer 2015.

The open house will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the School of the Arts, 45 Prince St. Light refreshments will be provided.

Members of the public who are unable to attend the meeting but would like to submit comments may send them via email to Erik Frisch, Project Manager at erik.frisch@cityofrochester.gov by Friday, March 20.

Additional project information is available on the City’s website at: www.cityofrochester.gov/eastmain.
