City of Rochester

News Release

(Friday, May 17, 2015) -- City Councilmember and International Sister Cities of Rochester President Carolee Conklin invites the community to an evening of world literature at 7 p.m., Friday, May 1, in Harold Hacker Hall of the Central Library’s Rundel Memorial Building, 115 South Ave.

The “Cities of Literature” event, co-produced by International Sister Cities of Rochester and Writers and Books, will feature short selections of prose or poetry to represent each of Rochester’s 12 sister cities, read first in its original language and then in English. Readers include students and faculty members from the Rochester Institute of Technology, St. John Fisher College and the Polish School of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church among other community participants. While celebrating Rochester’s global ties, this event seeks to bridge cultural and political divides through literature.
