News Release

(Tuesday, June 2, 2015) – Roses in bloom and a full program of activities await visitors at the 25th Annual Maplewood Rose Celebration, to be held Friday, June 12 through Sunday, June 14 at Maplewood Park and Rose Garden located at the intersection of Driving Park and Lake Avenues.

“The Maplewood Rose Celebration is a wonderful opportunity to experience Rochester’s beautiful and historic Maplewood Park,” said Mayor Lovely A. Warren. “This festival brings people together from all over and adds a special vibrancy to Rochester. Special events bolster our efforts to create safer neighborhoods, more jobs and better educational opportunities for our children.”

The festival starts Friday night and features food, dancing and fireworks on the Driving Park Bridge from 7 to10 p.m. New highlights include Classic Strings in the Rose Garden from 12 to 1 p.m. each day and a tour of the Historic Maplewood neighborhood with local architect Christopher Brandt on Sunday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. While experiencing the garden, festival-goers can enjoy live musical performances, horticultural workshops and a variety of children's activities, including a visit from the City’s Recreation on the Move Mobile Recreation Center.

The Maplewood Rose Festival weekend, coordinated by the Maplewood Neighborhood Association and the City of Rochester, celebrates Rochester’s illustrious horticultural heritage, and the majestic Genesee River gorge through the Maplewood Neighborhood, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. More than 5,000 roses of 300 varieties bloom each year in the Rose Garden.

Parking is available on adjoining streets and in the Hawkeye parking lot at the corner of St. Paul Street and Avenue E, directly across the Driving Park Bridge from Maplewood Park (shuttle provided). Handicapped parking is available in the Maplewood Park lot (access from Driving Park Avenue).
