Central Library - Think Genealogy It's Saturday - Winter 2018 Schedule

Think Genealogy It's Saturday programs are monthly genealogy programs featuring demonstrations using our new 55-inch Collaboration Station from the Walter F. Becker Digital History Center.

These programs are held on the fourth Saturday of every month from 10:15 to 11 a.m. in Central Library's Local History & Genealogy Division.  Volunteers from the Rochester Genealogical Society are available most Saturdays to help with individual research.  Call (585) 428-8370 for more information.

Winter 2018 Schedule:

January 27, 2018 - Ancestry.com
The Library Edition of Ancestry.com is FREE to use in the Local History and Genealogy Division, along with 12 town libraries and is a must-have database for every researcher! This month we will demonstrate effective search strategies and the many resources available. We will also take a look at all the differences among the various subscription levels.

February 24, 2018 - Jurisdictions - Towns, Villages, Cities
This month we take a look at the various New York State governmental jurisdictions, now and throughout history. A short video will be shown and we will discuss how to apply the tips outside of New York.

March 24, 2018 - Timelines for Genealogy
Building a timeline creates a visual representation of your research by putting your family in a place and time and helps you more easily compare and analyze information. Tell a story, problem-solve, fill in gaps and reveal patterns, all benefits to finding new clues with a timeline.

The Rundel Memorial Building overlooking the Genesee River. The Central Library is located at 115 South Ave. in Rochester, NY and is accessible to people with disabilities.
