For Merchants and Business Associations
Merchants and business associations may submit their event initiatives for consideration as an official #ShopTheROC event.
If selected, the City will help promote the event with design services, printing, traditional and social media outreach, listing of member businesses on the City’s website, waived or reduced special events fees and more. Association member businesses will also receive listings on the City’s website, storefront window decals and stickers for customers.
Up to four #ShopTheROC events will be chosen each year.

For Individual City Based Businesses
Individual businesses can sign up to be an official #ShopTheROC business and receive an official #ShopTheROC storefront decal, #ShopTheROC stickers to hand out to customers and a listing on the the City’s #ShopTheROC web page. Additionally, the city will seek to develop events and promotional opportunities to support participating individual businesses.
Applicants will be entered to win City-sponsorship of their shopping event. Up to 8 businesses will be selected to receive event promotion through the City’s traditional and social media outlets.

Customers can help local small businesses thrive by posting “selfies” or photos from a favorite #ShopTheROC location using the tag #ShopTheROC on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Local businesses are a key component to the City’s mission of creating more jobs, safer more vibrant neighborhoods and better educational opportunities in Rochester. Together we can generate excitement and pride among Rochester residents about investing in the local economy and supporting neighborhood businesses.
