City of Rochester

News Release

(Wednesday, May 10, 2017) – Mayor Lovely Warren invites the public to enjoy the “Embrace Every Angle” exhibit at City Hall Link Gallery. The exhibit is a collaboration between Lisa Savage Katz and twelve local artists, which follows Savage-Katz on a journey to body acceptance.

“I’m proud to welcome this beautiful exhibit, which highlights an issue many young women in our community struggle with,” said Mayor Warren. “I hope this art collection is an inspiration to all who visit the gallery.”

“The mission of ‘Embrace Every Angle’ is to celebrate a holistic approach to expression, creativity and existence,” said Savage-Katz. “We aim to raise awareness of the beauty and artistry that is abundant in our community; to demonstrate that ultimately, individual well-being and the well-being of our community go hand-in-hand. We are uniting health, fitness and the arts to create a better existence for people in the community.”

The exhibit features a six-foot high oil painting that Savage-Katz started 22 years ago, which she was able to complete with the encouragement of artist and life-long friend Jen Facteau. The exhibit also includes photographs taken by artists Jasna Bogdanovska, Washon Jamal Broyld Sr., Kris Dreessen, Tracy Grier, Jen Facteau, Teri Fiske, Lindsay Kathryn Jewett, Bailey Johnson, Darren Miller, Nitin Sampat, Janine Susz and Amy Vena.

The exhibit is on display through June 19, 2017 at the City Hall Link Gallery, 30 Church St. An opening reception will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 11 at the Link Gallery.

The City Hall Link Gallery was established 1981 to celebrate local art and Rochester’s art culture. It is located on the first floor of City Hall in the corridor that connects Buildings A and B. Exhibits are free and the Gallery is accessible for citizens with disabilities.
