News Release - Windstream Party in the Park Continues Thursday with Music by Blues Traveler

(Tuesday, July 11, 2017) Mayor Lovely A. Warren invites the community to the Windstream Party in the Park concert on Thursday, July 13 at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park, featuring headliner Blues Traveler (Classic Rock Jam Band) and opening act Kat Wright (blue-eyed soul band) on the CGI Communications Main Stage. In addition, Dirty Bourbon Blues Band (electric blues band) will perform on the Genesee Brewery Bowl Stage. Party in the Park, now in its 21st season, features diverse music all summer long, including blues, funk, rock, reggae, classic rock and more.

 

“Party in the Park adds vitality to Downtown and is one more reason that Rochester a great place to live, work and play,” said Mayor Warren. “I would like to thank Windstream for returning as the presenting sponsor of one of Rochester’s favorite music series as well as new sponsor, CGI Communications. Music and summer go hand-in-hand in Rochester!”

 
MLK Park is located at 353 Court St. at the corner of Chestnut and Court Streets. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the music starts at 5:30 p.m. Patrons may enter at the west gate at the corner of Court and Chestnut Streets or the east gate at the corner of Court Street and the traffic circle.

 
Individual, general admission tickets are $5 (children 12 and under are free). Tickets and passes may be purchased at the gate, through Ticketmaster (ticketmaster.com or 800-745-3000 with associated service charges) or at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial box office, 100 Exchange Blvd. Food by local food trucks and vendors, local beer from Genesee Brewing Company, wine from Constellation Brands and craft beer from Magic Hat Brewing Company will be available for purchase.

 
Patrons may visit the MVP Health Care Family Fun Zone, where children and adults can have fun playing games, hula-hooping, blowing bubbles and more. Patrons may also enjoy watching the teams of the Bocce League of Rochester as they play games on-site at 6 p.m.

 
“Two Guys and a Girl Radio Show,” a program of Recovery Now NY, will set up “Area 12,” at each Party in the Park event to educate the public about the disease of addiction.

Remaining concerts on the CGI Communications, Inc. Main Stage are as follows:

• Los Lonely Boys (American Chicano rock power trio), Thursday, July 20
• The Machine Performs Pink Floyd (tribute band), Thursday, July 27
• Matisyahu (reggae, rock), Thursday, August 3
• Donna the Buffalo (Americana roots rock), Thursday, August 10

 
Parking is available at nearby parking garages including the Washington Square Garage, 111 Woodbury Blvd., the Court Street Garage, 194 Court St. and at the East End Garage, 475 E. Main St. Free bicycle parking is available just outside the gates on North Chestnut Street.

 
Patrons may bring one sealed bottle of water into the Party in the Park concerts. Lawn chairs, bikes, skateboards, in-line skates and pets are not allowed inside the venue.
