City of Rochester

News Release

(Monday, July 17, 2017) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren and City Councilmember Elaine Spaull joined business owners Willie Sanders, Corey Rivers and David Gary, Jr. for a ribbon cutting event to celebrate the grand opening of two businesses: Classic Feel Vintage Sportswear; and 4Life Supply & Clothing -- both located at 980 Monroe Ave.

“Any time we celebrate the opening of a new business is an exciting time for our city,” said Mayor Warren. “Today we have two new businesses opening on our vibrant Monroe Avenue, and that’s a strong testament to the growth of our city. We are proud to see ongoing investment in our neighborhoods and pleased that this unique area continues to flourish. I thank the entrepreneurs who have put their faith in our city. With every new business that opens in Rochester, our efforts to create more jobs, safer more vibrant neighborhoods and better educational opportunities for our citizens are greatly enhanced.”

Classic Feel Vintage Sportswear buys, sells and trades new and used vintage clothing, sportswear, hats, streetwear and vintage travel bags at its 900 square-foot storefront. Co-owners Willie Sanders and Corey Rivers have a vision to “create a culture of thrift vintage culture in Rochester,” and their business model was inspired by thriving consignment businesses located in major metropolitan areas.

Rivers, who is an Army veteran, began brainstorming and planning for the business while traveling the world while deployed in 2010. “I opened this business because I wanted a place like this in my hometown. The kids deserve to experience this culture where you can wear old used clothing and still look good and feel good about it,” said Rivers. “And it means the world to me to launch this voyage on Monroe Avenue, a lively walkable area in the city.”

4Life Supply & Clothing, which began as an online store, was created by David Gary, Jr. in 2013 and recently opened a “brick and mortar” store located within Classic Feel Vintage Sportswear. 4Life Supply provides quality apparel clothing for men and women. Clothing items include t-shirts, joggers, tank tops, sunglasses, socks and other clothing accessory items.

Gary has a “passion for fashion and creating a positive lifestyle for people of all ages.” He hires local youth as interns to work with him to carry out his vision of “inspiring others to live a positive lifestyle while still remaining fashionable and trendy.” Gary takes pride in engaging the community through his brand -- supporting local youth by sponsoring back-to-school events in the community as well as designing official team apparel for the Rochester RazorSharks basketball team. He hopes to become a globally-recognized brand and “Supply the World,” as his slogan states.

Business hours for Classic Feel Vintage Sportswear / 4Life Supply & Clothing are: Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. In addition, the 4Life Supply & Clothing online store may be found at www.4lifesupplyandclothing.com. Customers may call (585) 957-0290 for more information.
