News Release - Mayor, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Invite the Community to a Free “Around the Town” Neighborhood Ensemble Concert Tuesday

(Monday, July 17, 2017) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra invite residents to a free “Around the Town” Neighborhood Ensemble Concert on Tuesday, July 18. The RPO Brass Quintet will kick off the event at 6:30 p.m. followed by performances by the Latino Theatre Company and the Garth Fagan Youth Dance Ensemble at the corner of Joseph and Clifford, 576 Joseph Ave. The rain location will be at Avenue D R-Center, 200 Avenue D. This event is produced in partnership with the Joseph Avenue Arts and Culture Alliance.

Now in its third year, the Around the Town Neighborhood Ensemble Concerts continue to bring the RPO into the community and give the community an opportunity to experience and enjoy classical music. Performances feature various ensembles comprised of RPO musicians and do not feature the entire RPO. Events are Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Remaining concerts are as follows:

• Tuesday, July 25: RPO Brass Quintet in conjunction with the neighborhood’s annual Cops and Dogs event (hot dog cookout with RPD members) - Barrington Park, aka “Park Avenue Green,” on the corner of Barrington Street and Park Avenue. (Rain location: Immanuel Baptist Church, Park Avenue and Brunswick Street). This event is produced in partnership with the Park Avenue Neighborhood Association.

• Tuesday, August 1: RPO Marimba Band - Maplewood Rose Garden, 250 Maplewood Ave. (Rain location: Edgerton R-Center, 41 Backus St.). This event is produced in partnership with the Maplewood Neighborhood Association.

All performances are free of charge and tickets are not required. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
