News Release -- Statement from Mayor Lovely Warren on the Las Vegas Shooting

 City of Rochester

News Release

(Monday, October 2, 2017) -- My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of both the Las Vegas mass shooting and the homicides here at home, but thoughts and prayers are not enough. In our country, it’s easier to get an illegal gun then to get proper disaster recovery.

That is why we are working so hard to get illegal guns off our streets. That is the reason why we worked hard to bring the first gun-court part in the state to our community.

While we will continue to work to end gun violence in our community, it is incumbent upon Congress to enact true gun reform. We need for them to take these matters seriously and act now.

Each of these victims was a mother, a father, a son, a daughter. They had people they loved, and people who loved them. My heart goes out to everyone impacted by these terrible tragedies.
