News Release

(Friday, Nov. 3, 2017) – Mayor Lovely Warren announced that the City of Rochester Public Market is one of just five nominees for the American Planning Association's annual Great Places in America People's Choice Award. The winner will be decided solely by online votes from the nominees' devotees and fans. Vote until November 7.

“By any measure, our Public Market is more than qualified and deserving of being named one of the Great Places of America,” said Mayor Warren. “I’m asking everyone who loves the Market to go online and vote for our treasured community gem, which we already know is distinct for its quality local produce at affordable prices and its wonderful atmosphere.”

The American Planning Association “provides leadership in the development of vital communities by advocating excellence in planning, promoting education and citizen empowerment, and providing our members with the tools and support necessary to meet the challenges of growth and change.” The 2017 People's Choice Designee will be announced by the American Planning Association on November 8.

The City of Rochester Public Market has served the community at its 280 N. Union Street site since 1905. Past distinctions include the 2010 national designation as “America's Favorite Farmers Market” from the American Farmland Trust.
