News Release - Area Youth Convene to Develop Solutions to Community Issues

(Friday, Nov. 3, 2017) – Rochester area youth groups will meet to discuss community issues at the annual Steppin’ Up To Solutions Youth Leadership Conference from noon to 6:30 p.m., Saturday, November 4 at the Nazareth College Otto A. Shults Community Center located at 4245 East Avenue in Pittsford. Deputy Mayor Dr. Cedric Alexander will welcome participants.

The annual conference is a joint partnership between the City of Rochester’s Youth Voice, One Vision (YVOV) program and Nazareth College.

Steppin’ Up to Solutions is a day-long event during which youth will go through various workshops, dialogue on the state of the community and learn about what they can do to bring about positive change. This year’s theme is suicide awareness. The conference will start with service learning project presentations by R-Center Youth Councils which will be judged by community partners. The youth councils are competing for $300 to $500 to go toward their project. These projects will increase inclusiveness and benefit the community in various areas.
