Plans are now completed that will greatly improve West Ridge Road.
Over the next two years, as reconstruction occurs, you will see an
entirely new and improved West Ridge Road unveiled.
It will feature improved
safety and traffic operations, raised median treatments, a noise
wall, new curbs, pavement, sidewalks and street lighting with
an overall aesthetic redesign of the project corridor. A new attractive
gateway pedestrian bridge will replace the existing obsolete structure,
with stylized lighting and a more aesthetically appealing appearance.
The new West Ridge Road will visually identify itself as a Gateway to
the City of Rochester and the Maplewood Community.
The entrance to
the City of Rochester will be defined by a new Pedestrian Bridge
over West Ridge Road. This new Bridge with it's historic towers,
arched steel beams and grand stair cases will provide a signature
pedestrian bridge welcoming visitors to the Flower City.
